The worst case of this that I know of is jerbob92 since he actually cannot even code and as far as I know did not contribute at all to anything in the developed "product".

I pretty much agree with this, if you were talking about indie developers. Big company developers get a set amount of money, and a bonus when the game sells good. Pirating doesn't matter much for COD at this point, it would matter much more for new IPs from new studios (people will be fired if the game doesn't sell).
