I saw other people with this same error, but I couldn't find a solution anywhere. Maybe i'm blind, but here's the problem:
Error: Server Script Compile Error
unknown function
See console for details
Pops up after I try and load Ascension. This map worked fine a few weeks ago, but now... I have a legit copy of Black Ops. I also got the updated Blops optimizer.

Try verifying game cache / copying the files again. Shouldnt happen with legit versiont though

I keep getting the bsp error too, even when I have the .ff files... . Any ideas?

I've managed to get past my first problem, but now I keep getting: Server script compile error: Unknown function.

Nevermind I fixed my problem by using the russian to english all in one patch (i have a russian black ops key) before overwriting the files with the escalation files provided so call of the dead is finally working for me yay!
