Does any of you already find out how it works? I am stuck on the skull with blue eyes!

In the top left it shows your level, (I believe a skull with blue eyes is 5)
You can - it seems like - also get demoted.

My friend is level 6? He has a gray background with a sword slashing through it. As well as the skull with blue eyes.

I also heard some rumors that it has something to do with your average score. Maybe thats what the level is called. Even my average is about 15? Though it is lower because of Tranzit, and some matches you end up with 2 people and leave directly. Not sure...
