Why can't I open effects in effects editor? For example: when I open the zombie doggy spawn effect(the lightning) all I can see is a blue light on the ground.

cause it is really buggy i think. especially with ATI GPUs.

The effects editor is just bugged/broken and there's nothing much you can do to fix it, this happens on most people's computers too.
What about the sound list?
It can only play FX for me (if i'm lucky and I open a file trough 'recent opened')

hmm ive not seen any magic lists of all the mp sounds other then going through the mp_blahblah.cvs files , thats the only way i know
