Valve recently created a beta for the tool they use to make their cinematics. This tool is called source film maker (sfm). Go to http://sourcefilmmaker.com/ if you want to participate in the beta. It is basically a mix of a modeling program (3ds/maya/c4d), a movie making program (vegas/premiere), and aftereffects. Or something like a mix of gmod with a movie editor.

I begin to like valve.
@surtek You wouldn't be the first
VALVe was always amazing. I guess I won't use this tool, but if they release it - it would be amazing for community

Youtube-Community will like this, and there will be a lot of awesome video's on there as soon it gets released. It's the black ops theater mode but much better. Valve should do this on each game they release.

For now it only works with tf2 but i think it will include every game using the source engine. For example the scenes from dota 2 or cs:go were made with this tool. Theatre mode sucks when compared to the source demos.

It's a replay editor with built in Fraps.

Also it exists since around 2007, and yes it works on more than TF2. Just Google it, they had an Alpha version of it that is used to make almost every good Machinima for TF2.
Valve does what people wants, fantastic idea Big Grin
Currently checking it out.
