Yes, we need a Russian IP, or VPN, to activate a Russian key now. No more activating with the method described in this thread. Deduced from my experience with my Russian cd key that I still haven't been able to activate.

Sadly most good VPNs cost money, so unless you're buying in bulk I wouldn't really bother (depending on the price difference)
there are a few keyselling shops at plati offering activation now too. ask first
