I'm writing this because this section is dying and I think it's just a cool find
This tutorial will explain you how to run linux commands from your computer.
This is simply awesome cause you got a full linux terminal at your disposal. (with root access)
Your phone needs to be rooted in able to do this
There are several other ways to do it without a rooted phone, but i'm lazy and i'm not gonna look it up.

  1. You're gonna download terminal IDE here
  2. When you installed it, press the 'install system' button and install the system
  3. When it's done click on terminal IDE
  4. Now connect your usb cable
  5. Copy paste this and save it as installsshd.sh at your sdcard (not external)
    Code:
cd ~ mkdir .ssh chmod 700 .ssh cd .ssh dropbearkey -t dss -f dropbear_dss_host_key dropbearkey -t rsa -f dropbear_rsa_host_key echo SSH installed cd ~
  6. Copy paste this and save it as sshd.sh at your sdcard (not external)
    Code:
    echo --------------------------------- echo Starting SSH server echo --------------------------------- dropbear -A -N root -U 10058 -G 10058 -C pwd -d ~/.ssh/dropbear_dss_host_key -r ~/.ssh/dropbear_rsa_host_key -F -E -p 8090 -P PidFile
NOTE that pwd needs to be changed in any password you want
  7. Now dismount your usb.
  8. Type 'bash sdcard/installsshd.sh'
  9. If it didn't give any errors, the ssh keys are created. This only needs to be done once.
  10. Now everytime you wanna start your SSH, follow the following steps
  11. Type 'su' in the terminal
  12. Allow terminal IDE access
  13. Type 'bash sdcard/sshd.sh'
  14. Download a simple client such as PuTTY
  15. Look up the IP of your phone (can be found in wifi settings > menu key > advanced)
  16. Select SSH
  17. Enter as port: 8090
  18. Press connect
  19. Enter as login 'root'
  20. Enter the password you provided, if you didn't provide one, it probably is 'pwd'
  21. Congrats, you now have a full linux terminal at your disposal which can run basic linux commands.
  22. Check here for some of the commands you can run

So much steps. On an iPhone it takes only 2 steps:
1. run a jailbreak tool (automated and done within 5 minutes).
2. Connect via SSH to your phone (then change your password).

There are other advantages when you look at android and iphone, for example being able to install cracked apps without any jailbreak/root.
But please, no 'android is master race'/'iphone is master race' crap on this thread.

Recent stats show only 3% use a jailbreak for this so get your facts straight.

(whereas 90% of the Android users I know have at least one pirated .apk installed)

The maintainer of the application required to bypass the DRM and saurik, the "creator" of the most commonly used application (and pre-installed by every jailbreak tool) to install packages (whereas saurik despises the ability to install cracked applications).
The 90% comes from the dozens of people I know IRL that doomed themselves with Java in their real life.
