In about 1 hour (20:00 CEST) the Minecraft API team (part of Mojang) will be discussing the upcoming modding API for minecraft on the Esper IRC network in the channels #minecraftdev & #minecraftdev-discuss. Modtools for minecraft? I read somewhere they were going to improve mod suport to avoid the modloader and forge and so and make it simpler
Yes, they are integrating Bukkit into Minecraft with an open interface for plugins to hook into.
