Did you try with ProMod plugin? Try the command !clientsideeffects 0
Not sure if it completely removes ambient sounds.

to quit all the ingame music, rename the miles folder to dismiles folder, with this you can quit all the ingame music, like startup music, end music, menu music, but the map effects i didn't find a chance to disable, only that, is very useful to competitive matches.

steam , steamapps , common , modern warfare 3 , miles , mssmp3.asi , on the mssmp3.asi all you have to do is remove the asi and change it to something else like mssmp3.nomusic , if you want the music back rename it back to mssmp3.asi

ok well here is a test, move iw_11 to iw_22 to a folder called backup in your main folder. run the game and play a private game. all ambient sounds are still there. they are build into each map, so you would have to use a .ff editor to fix that. and its not happening atm
