Full Version: Wanted Scope Overlay Help COD BO

I have been trying to make my own custom scope overlay and It just uses the default one all the time GRRR. Anyway I do have a Modded scope overlay that I can just drop into my Mods folder and load it and it works great BUT if I edit it and use the Asset manager to create a new IWI's for all the scopes then build the IWD it just doesn't work. When I try to make the Overlay using the Cross Hair function it asks for my Colour Map and a Alpha Mask Map. Now I provided that and it chokes and doesn't build the IWI at all. It complains the the colour map is empty, which it isn't or that the Alpha Map has the wrong extension or can't be read.
I have used DDS files for colour Map and TGA or JPG or Black Magic for Alpha Mask Map and nothing works!

I'd use TGA for all files, A 3arc employee told me only 3/5 files in the whole game are DDS source files

2d images are always TGA 32 bit, no compression

also the IWI you make probably has a different name.. so you have to change the name in the weapon file aswell

OK I will have a go at all TGA's 32 Bit No compression. I actually changed the name to the standard overlay name (I have a working overlay but not what I want that works) but I have nothing to lose at this point. I would like super duper scope that does IR UV Gamma and Lidar with Zoom. And I would like a 50 cal sniper rifle so that I can shoot through all those pesky things that get in the road like Buildings and stuff. Big Grin I can only dream. A custom Overlay will make me happy for a while.Tongue

This is the error I get when building the crosshair.

both are TGA's 32 bit uncompressed. It asks specifically to the Colour Map and a Alpha Mask Map. Now I created a Alpha mask from my original Colour map and stripped out all the colour leaving the inverted Mask Map and saved that as a TGA
so I have both Images at 1024 x 1024. I am lostHuh

I will need to sleep on this.

You need an alpha layer instead of an alpha map, also are you sure you changed "Type" or whatever (first dropdown menu) .. to 2d
