[Tutorial] SIP Calls using Android Client
#1
Hello,

Wanted to share with everyone a great way to use android 2.3.5 for SIP
calling, unless you have a PSTN, this is only for inbound calls.

Step 1:
- Create account at http://iptel.org

Step 2:
- Configure Android SIP Client
-- Home -> Settings -> Call -> Use Internet Calling (pick one)
-- Home -> Settings -> Call -> Accounts (second from bottom)
-- Accounts -> Check Box (Receive incoming calls) [x]
-- Accounts -> Add Account
-- Accounts -> Add Account -> Username = your iptel username only
-- Accounts -> Add Account -> Password = your iptel password only
-- Accounts -> Add Account -> Server = iptel.org
-- Accounts -> Add Account -> Set as primary account (only use if you have pstn)
-- Accounts -> Menu -> Save Account

You will notice your phone logs in and if receiving calls says "Receiving Calls".

Step 3:
- Head over to ipkall.com and register there using your iptel information.
*make sure you check the SIP option and remember the phone number it
*gives you because this is the number for inbound calls.

Step 4:
- Test by calling the ipkall number, if all is well, your Android will ring (if on wifi).

Optional:
- Setup google voice and have it forward to your ipkall number so you have local
number.

Thanks.

Inbound calls, yes with the built in phone dialer.

Outbound only if using service like onsip.com and have a valid outbound PSTN.

But I get all my inbound calls through wifi using my sip client, it's clear, its overhead is low and its free.

And best of all, no damn apps to download, or run lol.
